Choosing a location and planning a funeral in The Hague
The Hague has several cemeteries and crematoria. The municipality manages Westduin and Kerkhoflaan. When choosing a location, we consider your preference for burial or cremation, any existing family grave and the space needed for the gathering.
Accessibility matters alongside the atmosphere of a venue. Consider how guests will travel, whether anyone needs additional support and how much time you would like for a condolence gathering. If the farewell involves several locations, clear addresses and enough travel time help the day run smoothly.
Together, we plan the gathering, including music and personal memories. We discuss which parts you would like to organise yourself and which you wish to entrust to us. We talk through the options and costs in advance.
A personal farewell, with care for the people and the planning.
How can we make travel between venues easier?
If the gathering and burial or cremation take place at different venues in The Hague, give guests the address and start time for each part. Discuss parking, public transport and support for guests with reduced mobility. Allow time for travel in the schedule.
What should we discuss about the time for the gathering?
Prepare an outline of the music, speakers and moments of silence. Ask the chosen venue how much time is available for the gathering and condolences, and how extra time affects the cost. This helps the farewell fit the space and time reserved.
